Liftdesigner Update Available

There is a new version of Liftdesigner available (5.4.65). We basically fixed some EN-81 calculation issues and few other minor changes. Please find an overview of the EN-81 calculation changes below.

The latest Liftdesigner version is: 5.4.65.

Changes in the EN-81 calculation

In an elevator group with 2 or more similar shafts, the pit of the second shaft needed to be higher than the pit of the first shaft, according to the calculation. This issue has been fixed.

 

In Annex M, the direction or sense of the acceleration used for all four cases in the emergency braking situation (both on the car and counterweight sides) was wrong. This issue has been fixed.

 

The Results for "Normal Operation" and "Emergency braking" situation on the Car/ Counterweight side were not calculated correctly according to the standard Acceleration/ Deceleration value, when opening the Traction Calculation dialog for the first time. This issue has been fixed.

Although, the undercut for the traction sheave v-groove was not defined in the Grooving Consideration settings of the Rope Calculation, it still was taken into account in the calculation reports. This issue has been fixed.

DigiPara expands international Sales Team for optimal customer support

DigiPara is reacting to the company's positive performance by expanding their Sales Team.

Since the beginning of the year, Hélène Müller works as a Sales Assistant for the international sales team for the software product “Liftdesigner”. With her excellent sales and language skills, she is responsible for expanding and strengthening sales activities in the French and Spanish speaking countries.

New Web4lifts version adds 3-D elevator BIM functionality

The Web4lifts software is now able to save 3-D elevator and escalator drawings into SAT or STEP formats, which imports them into other 3-D CAD programs. This greatly enhances the existing design process for elevator and escalator manufacturers. The new SAT and STEP function enables manufacturers to easily export 3-D elevator and escalator models into other 3-D CAD software like Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks, for customization according to their needs.

In addition, elevator and escalator manufacturers are able to send 3-D BIM models created by Web4lifts to builders and architects. Due to the new export formats, 3-D models can be quickly and conveniently integrated into 3-D architecture software like Autodesk Revit or ArchiCAD. Architects are now able to display elevators and escalators more precisely as well as perform interference checks between the elevator and the building.

As we can now participate in BIM by sending our architects 3-D elevator models, which aid in coordination efforts with the various sub contractors and can also be utilized in the “clash detection” process. It's accurate and saves us time,” comments Scott Anderson, Manager Automation Development at Otis Elevator – NAA Contract Logistics Center in Bloomington, Illinois, USA.

Elevatorarchitect available in 8 different languages

Elevatorarchitect is already in 8 different languages available: Dutch, English, German, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish

To receive the new language packages, just update your Elevatorarchitect plug-in. The update process should start automatically when you start Elevatorarchitect.

The update process can also be run manually via the Windows Start menu.

To change the language in Elevatorarchitect, click on “menu” and choose the language you prefer.

Other languages

We would be happy, if you could help us add additional languages by sending us a translation of the language you prefer.

How to create large elevator types within Elevatorarchitect

Recently a question came up, on how to create elevators with higher capacities (like 32 passengers) than suggested in the solution suggestor drop down list.

When you create your elevator please choose the largest capacity, like 20 passengers:

Complete the create process.

In the "Compare vendors" dialog, expand the "Requirements" and change the number of passengers.

Note that you can type in any number while the drop down list suggest only the small sizes. Click "TAB" to leave the field.

Finally choose one vendor that supports the required size ( like Schindler 2600) and refresh your drawing by clicking "Create or Update in Revit"
